Bahia Organo
relaxing the day away in paradise Despite the land part of this bay being outside the Huatulco National Park and not far from town, Organo has the appearance of a remote bay as far off the beaten path as anywhere in Huatulco. As with most things in life, if there isn't roadside access, people overlook it. In addition, it gets bypassed by a lot of panga tours because they either take them further down the coast to the National Park beaches or they take them into a more developed bay like Maguey for lunch. Like Maguey, the bay is deeply recessed so it gets very little swell and is similarly good for swimming. The quiet empty beach is the greatest attraction, a beautiful place for couples to have a romantic getaway. There is a very clear hiking trail on your left as you drive toward Maguey, which is unmarked but a taxi driver would know. If you're in your own car, it's about half a kilometer before you get to Maguey. The walk is about 15-20 minutes long to the beach, through the coastal forest. It would also be a nice trail to ride on a mountain bike. For slightly more adventurous souls, there's a very short but somewhat steep hiking trail off the loop road that branches off the Santa Cruz - Maguey road and passes out toward the Santa Cruz lighthouse. Coming from the Maguey end of the loop, it is 1.46 km from the entronque on the main road. Park your car by the side of the road at the end of the guard rail and look for a narrow path that follows a forested gully down to the bay. It's little more than a five minute hike downhill and drops you into a little alcove in the rocks on the east side of the bay. To get to the beach, you climb around the rocks for about fifty yards. It's not for everyone, but isn't all that difficult. If you have someone to pick you up, it makes for some nice variety to come in this way and go out the beach trail.
